Help - Help for Hydraulics Calculations

How to use the program.
exercise # 1.
We need to rise a load of 38.000 Lbs. with a hydraulic
cylinder, 45 inches up in no more than 18 seconds. This system cannot use more than 2.500 psi of
pressure.
We need to get the size of the cylinder first, then the
flow needed to rise that
stroke in that time and the power that has to be used.

These are the formulas that are going to be used to perform the hydraulic calculations.

Get the size of the cylinder (BORE),
knowing P (2.500 psi) and F (38.000 lbs).

Get the flow (Q), knowing B (From previous calculation)
and S/t. (45” in 18 seconds)
To Get the size of the cylinder (bore) enter the data, then click Calc: 4.4 inches.

To get the flow enter the data then click Calc: 9.87357 GPM (gals per minute)

The Theoretical Power needed can be gotten using the following formula. The real Power needed is usually bigger depending on
pump’s overall
efficiency.

To get the theoretical power needed for this application enter data then click Calc: 14.389 HP
